Female Infanticide

Infanticide- Intentional killing of infants.
Age Group- 0-6
Worst states-  Haryana(830 girls per 100 boys), Punjab( 846 per 1000), Jammu & Kashmir (859 per 1000).
Leading state-Mizoram( 971 girls per 100 boys).

Female child population was 78.83 million in 2001 which declined to 75.84 million in 2011.

Decline in Child Sex Ratio during 2001—2011 in rural areas is more than three times as compared to the drop in urban India.

For every 1,000 boys up to the age of six the number of girls dropped from 962 in 1981 to 945 in 1991, it dropped to 927 in 2001 and to a drastic 914 in 2011.
